RUTLAND BUILDING PERMITS
BUILDING INSPECTOR - STEVE KITTELSON PHONE 873-8784 or 445-9715 (cell)
In most cases, a zoning permit is required from Dane County prior to obtaining the local building permit.
All buildings, regardless of size, must comply with the setbacks from lot lines described in the Dane County Zoning Code. A list of the information required by Dane County for a zoning permit is available from Dane County Zoning; it is also available on the County Web Site. Please contact the Building Inspector to verify building permit needs and for questions on permits or lot line setbacks.
Building permits are required if you:
- Build a new building;
- Add onto or remodel an existing building;
- Add or install new wiring, plumbing or heating equipment;
- Build a new deck on your home;
- Make structural changes, e.g. rafters
